The musical culture of Korea originated in the early royal courts of China. The 12-string long zither and a flute with 8 finger-holes express man's changing moods, while drums and gongs reflect the natural elements. The voice comes from the belly, rather than the throat. These traditions are preserved by the students of the classical Conservatoires of Seoul and Kyongju, who are heard on this recording.
