A wonderful documentary narrated by actor Peter Coyote, this films traces the development of bossa nova from its earliest days in Brazil. Contains music, stories and reminiscences from leading figures of bossa nova like Antonio Carlos Jobim, Caetano Veloso, Chico Barque, Nana Vasconcelos, Paulinho da Viola, and Gilberto Gil. The influence of bossa nova outside Brazil is traced by jazz musician Gerry Mulligan, and composers Henry Mancini and Michel Legrand, among others. Also included is archival footage of performances by Joao Gilberto, Stan Getz, Chet Baker, and Frank Sinatra. 52 minutes
