Recognized as one of the top Afro-Cuban folkloric ensembles in the country, Conjunto Céspedes plays raw son Cubano with an authentic sound that includes tres guitar, chekere, and the black voice of Africa in the Americas. Their ability to integrate ancient African spiritual textures with the roots and integrity of traditional son has distinguished them from every other Latin ensemble in North America. With Flores, Conjunto Céspedes establish themselves as the most exciting conjunto recording today.

Replete with the dazzling brass arrangements, explosive solos, and smoldering grooves for which Conjunto Cespedes are renowned, Flores is also a showcase for the immeasurable talent of vocalist Bobi Céspedes. Powerfully sensual, Bobi has matured into a major voice in Cuban music, her name mentioned in the same breath as that of renowned singer Celia Cruz. She works through the album's thirteen songs with a soulful command that evokes the heart of the Cuban spirit. Along with religious call-and-response songs and tributes to the influence of Africa, Bobi sings the classic boleros and driving rhumbas that are integral to the Conjunto Cespedes sound.
