In Cuba, rhumba is a party where everyone participates. Rhumbas spring forth daily -- with little provocation -- in the streets, patios, bars and beaches of nearly every town. Join the party with one of Cuba's most powerful and dynamic folkloric ensembles -- Conjunto de Clave y Guaguanco! Make no mistake, Clave y Guaguanco! does not play the "ballroom rhumba" introduced in the U.S. in the '30s. This is la cosa verdadera -- the real thing. The songs here feature close harmony singing, exciting arrangements and stellar percussion work.
Together since 1960, the group has remained at the forefront of the evolution of the rhumba. Clave y Guaguanco! merges secular music with the sacred Afro-Cuban styles of the Yoruba and Palo traditions. Borrowing from the past, looking towards the future, Clave y Guaguanco! are infusing the present with innovation, creativity and artistic excellence. Hear it -- dance it -- play it!
