"In remote regions, still difficult to access, in the
Sierra Madre Occidental Mountains of western Mexico, there still remain
pockets of Indians who have not yet adopted the predominant Mestizo
culture of Mexico, Indians, who by virtue of their remoteness, have kept
their own tribal identities, cultures, and languages. One such tribe
is the Cora, living in the mountains of the northwestern part of the
