Balafon, djembe, dumdum... Kady Diarra proposes a resolutely acoustic musical world with a repertoire that is rooted in the traditions of Burkina Faso. With her warm voice--sometimes strong and forceful, sometimes soft and gentle--Diarra pays tribute to her country's traditions while championing the cause of African women. Indeed, Diarra is one of the very few women in her tradition who have shown that women have a right to freedom. She also fights against the so-called "modern, progressive" African society's contempt for the griots and its disregard for tradition.
