This is the real son huasteco, for many people the most appealing Mexican country music. On this album it is played by a band raised in the mountains of northern Mexico where the style was born, featuring the intense, passionate violin and the call of the falsetto voice. Although there are hundreds of Huastecan bands playing sones today, los Camperos de Valles are the stars of the local weddings and baptisms, the bars and the brothels of the region. More recently, Heliodoro Copado's fiery, wiry violin and Marcos Hernandez' exceptional falsetto voice have won over crowds in Europe. The trio and their music remain firmly rooted in the highlands of San Luis Potosi.
Notes in Spanish.

"The best trio from the Huasteca mountain region of northern Mexico . . . extroverted, intense and full of contrasts." --Paul E. Comeau, Dirty Linen

"A well-deserved and moving tribute to this largely unheralded, but genuine roots music." --Ramiro Burr, San Antonio Express News
