An inspired interpretation of traditional southern African songs, as well as popular international melodies. The literal translation of marimba is “voice of wood,” as the music is created by a set of wooden slabs, each tuned to a different pitch, which are loosely secured to a frame and beaten with sticks. It is one of the most ancient instruments in the world, harking back to the earliest peoples’ instincts to strike objects that produced musical tones: not only wood, but also stone and metal slabs.
