The various indigenous peoples of New Guinea and neighboring islands, known as Papuans, have succeeded in preserving their traditional culture and way of life. Famed the world over for their ancient customs, Papuans, who are close to nature, are descended from the earliest human inhabitants of that part of the world. This CD is particularly precious since Papuan music is so little known and rarely heard. These recordings show perfect respect in every way for the authenticity of these pieces, which take us traveling through time and space.
