In the mid-1970s, a few aficionados of mechanical street music revived the pre-World War I tradition of organ grinders by building new instruments and making new folding punch cards for these devices to play. Robert Hopp built the organ heard on this recording, Pierre Charial created the cards, and Gérard Dôle operated the instrument.
