A certain magic emanates from lead tenor pan player Percy Thomas and the Katzenjammers, a champion steel drum ensemble from Port of Spain, Trinidad. Captured by Emory Cook, the steady pulse of this music is readily internalized. The record includes lively dance tunes associated with this Caribbean musical genre, but it also demonstrates that steel drum tunes can be truly introspective.
