collection of music from Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan is the
culmination of many centuries of musical practice and custom. Music of
the Russian Middle East focuses on one of the most prominent features
of this regions music - its unique vocal tradition. While instruments
play a vital role in the music of Central Asia, this album highlights
the distinctive talents of singers as heard on the intensely powerful
Katar and Tesnif, from the mountains of Azerbaijan.
