Musical Sources CD
First issued in 1971, Musical Sources is a collection of 30 compositions from the UNESCO Collection of Traditional Music. The featured field recordings include rarely heard examples of music from the cultures of indigenous peoples. Listeners will receive an introduction to music from around the world sung in native languages and performed on a variety of string, horn, wind, and percussion instruments from Asia to the Americas, Australia to Africa, and the Pacific Islands to Europe.
This album is part of the UNESCO Collection of Traditional Music. More than 125 albums are being re-released by Smithsonian Folkways Recordings to make the series publicly available again, including a dozen never-released albums of musical traditions from around the globe.
